Is Alaska Stuck On Stupid? Or Is it Just the Democrats Wishful Thinking?

Sarah Palin has floated a run for the Senate in Alaska, but her approval rating iswell underwater according to a new poll from liberal-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP).

PPP puts Palin at a 39 percent approval rating against a 58 percent disapproval rating overall, a gap of 19 points. She does even worse among independents, polling at 33 percent approval to 64 percent disapproval (Of the potential GOP candidates, only 2010 nominee Joe Miller is more disliked, with a 63 percent disapproval rating). Perhaps the most damaging data point is that among those polled, which included an oversampling of GOP primary voters, only 47 percent considered Palin to still be an Alaskan, compared with 46 percent who do not consider her Alaskan.

However, she has the lead among Republican primary voters, topping Treadwell 36–25 percent.

Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell (R) provides the staunchest challenge to Senator Mark Begich (D., Alaska). Treadwell trails Begich by only four percentage points in a hypothetical matchup, and Dan Sullivan, Alaska’s natural-resources commisioner, trails by a few points more, 46–39. Palin is twelve points behind at 52–40, and Miller is 23 points behind at 55–32.

This doesn’t mean Begich is guaranteed the seat; he stands at 42 percent approval to 41 percent disapproval. That’s down from the 49–39 approval he had in a February PPP poll.

PPP conducted the automated telephone survey of 890 Alaska voters, including an oversample of 507 usual GOP primary voters, July 25–28. The margin of error was +/- 3.3 percent for the overall survey, and +/-4.4 percent for the Republican portion.

It doesn’t matter if I’m a democrat or not—-I wouldn’t wish Sarah Palin on anyone.
Alaska doesn’t deserve this one woman freak show. As it is, none of us do. I do not believe in rat****ing elections like some dems did with Miller and Murkowski in the primaries–so it would be obscene if dems voted for her in the primaries thinking Begich would beat her worst in the general. Unforeseeable things happen when you mess with this kind of thing. That is how they almost got Joe Miller.

I think its way past time to play elections straight with the best candidate. Sadly
tea party groups in Alaska have not been really paying attention to what Palin did when she was running Alaska last time. They are delusional like most of Palin’s supporters. Frankly, if Alaskans blow it and dump this nightmare on the U.S senate it will have nothing to do with democrats—-as they will not be voting for her in the general.

But, the truth be told—-Palin isn’t running for anything. She’s stirring it up so people can give money to her grifting PAC. She’s gotta have that bad wig money.

Not sure how many Dems actually voted for Miller last time in the Primary. I was seriously considering it but the thought of him actually getting in was too scary so at the last minute I was good and asked for the boring but safe Open Ballot. I asked every Democratic voter that I knew if they had voted the R or the Open Ballot, and everyone of them said they chose the Open. I think that it was just talk that never materialized into real votes.

However, at this point I’m so pissed at Mark Begich over the fact that he cares more for the rights of individuals to own ridiculous weapons of mass destruction than for the safety of defenseless 1st graders, that I do not want to vote for him. I told him that I didn’t think that I could bring myself to vote for him (I have volunteered on his campaigns in the past) because the next time some crackpot with a machine gun wipes out a bunch of five year olds, I would feel like I had their blood on my hands.

So perhaps I’ll vote for Miller or Palin in the Primary, and then abstain from the General. That way I could set Begich up for a “non-loss” but not have to renege on my vow to never vote for him again until he quits acting like a 2nd Amendment Wacko.

But it’s just a fantasy that Palin will run. I’m her neighbor on Lake Lucille and I don’t think that she qualifies for residency here anymore.

Palin isn’t running for anything except how long she can do a political pole dance and keep on getting money to live off from her PAC. She is not a serious candidate and has no real intention of running for any kind of political office, even IF she was actually living here and cared about Alaska and Alaskans. Why? Because 1. She doesn’t want to do the actual work. and 2. She has too many skeletons in her closet and ran too many people over in her bus to be able to actually throw her hat in the ring, she’d be eaten alive.

My other thought on this is how Treadwell, who though still a rabid Republican is at least the most “sane” of the Republicans showing their interest in this race. And look how he is showing among the State’s Repubs. So, yes, Alaska Republicans are stuck on stupid – to all our detriment.

I don’t think it’s wishful thinking so much as a need for a good laugh.

Alaskans may well be stuck on stupid but they know a mess when they see one.

    Run, Sarah, run!

Good lord!! How bad is Treadwell for Palin to beat him in the poles? Isn’t that like saying pig manure is better than cow manure? Depends on what you’re trying to plant, right?

Mark Begich: “I don’t know if she’s a resident. She’s been away from Alaska a lot and has probably lost touch with what’s going on.”

Sarah snorted and snarled on FB after Mark poked her in the eye with this zinger. However, to this day, Sarah has never “set the record straight” about still being a resident of Alaska.

I believe Sarah is not a resident of Alaska.
