Ok, some of those things were never considered scientific fact; by the author’s own admission, they were old wives tales. Some were theories that have later been disproven. Some are accurate. Some are pure bullshit. For instance, the one about the pesticides. Some pesticides are absorbed into the skin of the fruit or vegetable and can’t be washed off. Some are absorbed through the roots into the food itself. And the one about water and electricity? I just got shocked last night filling a water trough when the hose, with water running down it, hit the hotwire. I have been told that Mythbusters disproved the theory that peeing on a hotwire could cause a person to get shocked. Yeah, not so much. I watched my dog pee on a hotwire. I don’t think you can convince him that he didn’t get shocked. I don’t think he peed for a week.
