Bristol Palin wants Obama to call her
Less than a month after Obama called a law student insulted by Limbaugh, Palin’s daughter now wants to hear from the president over remarks Maher has made about her.
“Your $1,000,000 donor Bill Maher has said reprehensible things about my family,” Palin writes on her blog. “He’s made fun of my brother because of his Down’s Syndrome.”
Palin also repeated a joke Maher made about her that we can’t reprint. The title of the post: “Mr. President, when should I expect your call?”
Maher actually gave money to an Obama Super PAC, but that donation has been the subject of conservative ire over the Limbaugh flap broke.
The conservative radio talk show host lost some sponsors after he called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke “a slut” following her congressional testimony on behalf of health insurance coverage for birth control.
Obama said he called Fluke out of solidarity with his daughters, because he wouldn’t want them to be publicly criticized in such a way.
While Limbaugh apologized for his comments, some Limbaugh backers are trying to turn the tables by citing Maher’s comments about women, including members of the Palin family.
In her post, Bristol said to Obama: “I’m not expecting your Super PAC to return the money. You’re going to need every dime to hang on to your presidency. I’m not even really expecting a call. But would it be too much to expect a little consistency? After all, you’re President of all Americans, not just the liberals.”
As we’ve noted there’s an irony here: Maher has criticized sponsors for pulling out on Limbaugh, calling it a free speech issue.
