RedState‘s Erick Erickson On Potential Palin 2012 Run: ‘A Bad Joke’

by Frances Martel

Today is the first day of October, which for many fans of Sarah Palin means her presidential campaign carriage is set to turn back into a pumpkin. Palin had long promised to make a definitive decision on whether to toss her hat into the ring by the “end of September,” but as of her last pre-October appearance on TV, Palin has been mum.

Her silence led RedState‘s Erick Erickson to host an overnight vigil on his blog last night, and as October came around, shrug Palin’s candidacy away as a “bad joke.”

Here are a couple of his last Twitter posts..

Conservative blog hub Red State began counting down to October sometime around 5 AM yesterday Eastern time, being careful to account for the time difference between the East Coast and Alaska. The updates happened about once an hour, noting the silence from the Palin camp. It went on until 4 AM Eastern time this morning (officially October in Alaska), at which Erickson wrote this post:

It is now October even in Alaska and Sarah Palin has not announced by her own deadline.

I guess she could still do it this month. But if she can’t even keep to her own deadline and hasn’t really had a job for two years and could have made up her mind, why keep stringing us along.

This hasn’t just become a joke, but a bad joke.

Given the extraordinary amount of speculation surrounding Palin’s run– which, unlike that surrounding Gov. Chris Christie, has been partly fueled by her claims that the end of September as a “drop dead” date to announce, and that she had been considering it– that “drop dead” date is far more significant than that of potential candidates that have given no concrete yes or no. Palin fans who otherwise agree with Erickson on the issues will likely not be too happy with the characterization of their maybe-candidate as a joke, but it is a clear sign that the more she waits, the more difficult it becomes for her to keep the positive attention of her fellow conservatives.

What will Sarah pull out of her bag of tricks? Her next public appearance will be interesting.

She is obviously hiding again. Is she wailing and gnashing her teeth because she is too ashamed and embarrassed to face the consequences of her own behavior? Nah, I don´t think it´s that. I think she is being heavily sedated via suppositories.

I’d agree with you that she might be getting sedated, but how could we tell? Sedated or not she’s always a disaster. Maybe she’s trying to get over Lawrence O’Donnell making her look like a fool as he proved she lied about calling Cain the flavor of the week, then becoming paranoid and crazy about Juan Williams mentioning how inappropriate it was for her to say it and then accusing Megyn Kelly of lying about her poll numbers-when she only relayed the facts.

It was a trifecta of crazy- stupid for Sarah.

At this point I so want her to run so she can be laughed out of the box with her ghostwritten Facebook and inane twitters.

she’s going to have to resort to running down the street naked with her hair on fire to garner the attention she craves.

Oh ..she’s just waiting to announce in South Korea…THEY think she’s really a politician, …they really do…they think she ~~REPRESENTS AMERICA~~now she’ll go over there and tell them that she is definitely going to be the next POTUS…..

The South Koreans are the last Palin suckers that remain on the planet.

    This is where she will announce…..or not;

Sarah Palin is going overseas next month, this time to South Korea.

The former governor of Alaska and potential GOP presidential candidate will speak at the 2011 World Knowledge Forum, planned for Oct.11 to 13, according to the event’s website.

Palin has suggested she will announce by the end of September whether or not she will make a bid for the White House in 2012, so it’s likely that decision will come before her trip to Seoul.

An organizer for the World Knowledge Forum could not immediately be reached for comment by TheDC, but the event website says “Palin will give a US leadership perspective on how to lead the world out of the latest crisis.”

The event bills Palin as “former Governor of Alaska and the Republican Party’s frontline female politician.”

The World Knowledge Forum website continues: “Palin first entered mainstream politics when she was named the Republican Party nominee for Vice President in the 2008 presidential election. Ever since, Palin has been the figurehead of grassroots conservative politics also known as the Tea Party Movement, which has been opening new scopes in US politics.”

The event is hosting 250 global leaders from 40 countries, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Palin’s appearance in Seoul may overlap with a Bloomberg / Washington Post Republican presidential candidate debate slated for Oct. 11, if she is in fact a candidate by then.

WHOA!!! They just showed what kind of ‘knowledge’ they possess! If I were them, I would hide under a rock, and never, ever come out to see the light of day anymore!

“World KNOWLEDGE Forum”? Well that disqualifies her credentials to attend for a start. Can you imagine the bemused Korean audience trying to translate gems like “I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism”. You can hear the clatter of seats being flipped up as they all make a stampede for the doors.

As usual, everybody misunderstood her. She will announce on the last day of October, not September. She has been unmasked, and will try to put the mask on again on Halloween.

If “everyone” misunderstands her, then it is she who has the problem communicating clearly. Poor communication skills does not a leader make.

But then short skirts, high heels and a push up bra got her all the way to the Alaska governor’s office. The lower 48 doesn’t spend 9 months indoors and in the bush.
