Sarah Palin Still Not Running For President; Does She Have “Thin Skin?”

By Ben Glaser

I got pretty excited last week when I heard that Mama Grizzly Sarah Palin was in fact running for president. But it turns the whole thing was just a big tease.

The rumor mill started off when Fox News commentator Karl Rove said that Palin’s best (and last) opportunity to declare her candidacy would be at an event titled “Restoring America” on Sept. 3. “I think she gets in,” Rove told the Washington Examiner.

Rove is a former adviser to Pres. George W. Bush, and has had several well-publicized feuds with Palin, the former Republican candidate for Vice President.

Palin’s Political Action Committee fired back, saying any “professional pundit claiming to have ‘inside information’” was intentionally trying  ”to mislead the American public.” Of course, she didn’t deny anything about an upcoming announcement or possible presidential run.

And as far as I can tell, Rove didn’t claim to have any “inside information,” he was only saying what he thought.

The final blast (for now) came when Rove accused Palin of having “enormous thin skin” 3 or 4 times in the course of the interview:

I’m pretty sure he meant “enormously” thin skin. And there’s a big difference, because otherwise, he was calling her fat. Let’s see Palin respond to that!

Would a Palin announcement even matter? Sarah Palin might have her own reality show and all the attention she wants, but 41% of her own party wouldn’t vote for her. Would you?

Well, Rove can call it “thin skin” but in reality is it psychosis.
Time he stepped to the plate on what he really means.
…”thin skin” is like ordering baked potato skins to pretend you
    are on a diet.

She’s only an inch deep anyway, so of course she has thin skin.

We have been watching this song and dance for three years. Sarah pops out of her rabbit hole, randomly throws rocks, then scurries back down to hide. This time there is a twist. Karl Rove has marched over to the rabbit hole and stuck a water hose down the opening. He is turning sarah into a wet, cold and shivering little rabbit.

Either the scrawny rabbit plays rugby with the big boys, or she stops trying to steal the game ball.

Rove: ¨Sarah! Come out and play!¨

Sarah Palin and Punxsutawney Phil are two of kind. Will she or won’t she run? Will he or won’t he see his shadow?

Frankly, besides having thin skin, she has worn out her welcome with the majority of Americans.

Perry & Bachmann are sucking up all the oxygen with their own outrageous ignorance and religious dogma, Palin can’t compete.

Praying for rain, only God can save the economy from Perry and pray away “the gay” the recent earthquake and hurricane are “messages from God” offered by Bachmann.

Their agenda is to take the government and “give it all up to God”

If you don’t believe in God this is literally insane and if you do believe in God this is the laziest attitude in all of Christianity.

If you believe in God you must know that you were blessed with an intellect, so how can you think that you can just sit on your ass and expect the almighty to fix everything at your behest, especially the problems that you have caused when you are perfectly capable to do it yourself?

That’s the trouble with the far right wing-nuts and why they represent less than 20 % of the population….thank God…..

Besides, it really doesn’t matter if she runs…or not:

Never-fail prediction system shows 2012 win for Obama

American University professor Allan Lichtman is on a winning streak spanning nearly three decades — one that President Barack Obama might have an interest in seeing Lichtman extend.

Lichtman created a formula that has correctly predicted the winner of each election since 1984, beginning with the reelection of President Ronald Reagan, U.S. News and World Report reported. The formula that predicted Obama’s 2008 win is again showing that the incumbent president will win the election, despite the term-low approval rating Obama has been maintaining for past weeks.

“Even if I am being conservative, I don’t see how Obama can lose,” Lichtman said.

His model, described in his book The Keys to the White House, relies on 13 “keys” that gauge the performance of the sitting president’s party. If six or more of these aspects are in the party’s favor, the candidate they present will win.

Nine of the keys fall in Obama’s favor, Lichtman said — more than enough for reelection.

Created in 1981 and first tested against the 1984 election, Lichtman’s model hasn’t failed yet.

Even in 1992, when President George H.W. Bush was riding a wave of popularity and widely expected to win, Lichtman thought otherwise.

“I got a call from this woman with a thick southern drawl,” Lichtman said. “It was Clinton’s special assistant. She wanted to know if it was true that a Democrat could win. I assured her it was and I sent Clinton a copy of my book and a memo and the rest is history.”

I am English, & it’s interesting to see how the American electoral situation has reduced itself to the same sort of imbroglio we have endured (wearily) in my country for many, many years. In England, we KNOW that most of our political representatives are inept, self-serving & mendacious; no news there. The implication, however, is that we are left, every time, hoping that the “lesser of the two evils” prevails. So, now in the USA, you are facing the same kind of situation. Sure, Obama has performed pathetically. YET – what are the alternatives? Perry? Bachmann? Romney? – & at the bottom of the barrel – Palin?

Barring some bizarre turnaround, people are as likely to vote Obama back as they were likely to vote for Johnson against Goldwater back in ’64. It’s not about Obama having met everybody’s expectations, it’s about accepting that however lack-lustre, weak-chinned & meekly compliant the incumbent has proved himself to be, there are far wackier & incompetent pretenders to the throne lurking in the wings. The majority of the American electorate will vote Obama by default. Welcome to the British way of electioneering; tedious, huh?
