It’s Confirmed -Palin composed her messages at an eighth-grade level

The huge cache of Sarah Palin’s emails released Friday offered not only a chance to see what she was writing about during her uncompleted term as Alaska’s governor, but also an opportunity to see how well she writes.

AOL Weird News brought samples to two writing analysts who independently evaluated 24,000 pages of the former governor’s emails. They came back in agreement that Palin composed her messages at an eighth-grade level, an excellent score for a chief executive, they said.

“I’m a centrist Democrat, and would have loved to support my hunch that Ms. Palin is illiterate,” said 2tor Chief Executive Officer John Katzman.

“However, the emails say something else. Ms. Palin writes emails on her Blackberry at a grade level of 8.5.

“If she were a student and showing me her work, I’d say ‘It’s fine, clear writing,'” he said, admitting that emails he wrote scored lower than Palin’s on the widely used Flesch-Kincaid readability test.

“She came in as a solid communicator,” said Paul J.J. Payack, president of the Global Language Monitor. The emails registered as an 8.2 on his version of the test. “That’s typical for a corporate executive.”

An example of Palin’s strongest writing came on Jul. 17, 2007 in an email to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell about the controversial Gravina Island Bridge, infamously called the “Bridge to Nowhere.”

“We cant afford it, the Feds won’t pay for it, the general populace isn’t placing it as a high priority … can you diplomatically express that?! Of course we want infrastructure — and this is NOT a “bridge to nowhere” (that is so offensive), but as it stands today with the highest-cost bridge design selected by the Ketchikan community, we need to find a lower-cost alternative [if] a bridge will be built.”

“She’s very concise. She gives clear orders. Her sentences and punctuations are logical,” Payack said. “She has much more of a disciplined mind than she’s given credit for.”

She contracted out everything such as: someone to research her answers to pre-submitted questions and someone else to put them in the teleprompter, someone to sign her name to a bottle of wine for auction (and god knows what else), someone to home school some of her children, someone to sign her self-written letters to the editor praising herself, and someone to manage the affairs of the city while she was mayor. So it would be no surprise if she had someone writing her emails. Well, the ones that make sense anyway. Others are clearly written by Sarah Marinara.

At c4p they are BRAGGING about this, I kid you not! They have a headline about it – and the idiots are saying it proves how smart she is!
WOW, did they think she was at a 4th grade level and they are pleasantly surprised?

You mean to tell me she went through SIX colleges, and did not learn any better English than EIGHTH GRADE equivalent??? It sure shines a GREAT light onto the six colleges she went through to get (?) her degree! Let me makes sure to check again, which ones they were, so I can recommend OTHER colleges to my friends and neighbors’ kids! [shaking my head]
You mean to tell me that grades 9-12 in High school are WORTHLESS when it comes to going to college? Why bother then? Why don’t we just tell our Junior High kids they can skip the rest and graduate from college instead?

She was a journalism major and can only write at the 8th grade level? That speaks volumes of the Mat-Su School Dist and the five colleges she attended. Wasilla High and the U of Idaho should revoke her diplomas. And no wonder FoX hired her. Their requirement is only a 2nd grade level.

incredible…MSM and palinbots have lowered the bar yet again. 8th grade level?? Why oh why are we still giving this grifter so much relevance when she’s such an empty vessel, a losing candidate, a racist, a lousy mother, a liar, a quitter, a verbal terrorist, a cheater and an apportunist of the lowest type. This facination with her needs to stop – god, how i wish it would stop. it distracts us from urgent issues like unemployment, climate change, the failing housing industry, the deficit, wars and the suffering in our country. What has happened to our country that we’re still pursuing every pathetic word and action that comes from the grifter? How did we sink this low? I KNOW we have to be vigilent when it comes to extremists like her but really – we’ve dedicated over 2 years to her and raised her presence to a level that’s sickening. The MSM should be forever dismissed for the outrageous lack of honest jounalism and the pathetic lack of truth when dealing with this sick and perverted woman.

I just want to say that I appreciate ALL of you who have made yourselves known to me. I appreciate your support, your encouragement. I don’t lie or have to make up anything! Let it be known that my adversarial view of Sarah Palin is based on her vindictive, abusive and incompetent behavior as a public offical! It appears that her followers want to keep her indiscretions in the media. I said it once on ADN blog.. Never say when or who. But, someone was named and a date placed in the Natl Enquirer.. There is a affidivit signed to confirm that there was NO rumor. Someone took it as truth..

Reason for that is because she is the same unethical and abusive person in her personal life as well. This woman is a fraud, aliar and I don’t think I’m alone anymore in presenting these facts. The comments Palin is having a ‘mental flameout’ over that were made by me Syrin _Syrin __Syrin and AkSyrin were all true and to the point! Again, let me reiterate.. Blind Allegiance:

Throughout all this, beginning back on July 9, we faced another interpersonal avalanche. Sherry Whitstine, AKA blogger Syrin, was jabbing her sharp stick at Sarah by suggesting the governor had an extra-marital affair back in 2005 (a story later rehashed with sworn affidavits by the National Enquirer). When Whitstine‘s message appeared on the ADN‘s message board, Sarah had to react.
OK dokay – enough is enough. I am calling ADN, as Todd just called…and said Sherry Whitstine (aka crazy hater) blogged yesterday that ―Sarah had an affair with Todd‘s best friend while he was on the Slope.

That the governor of any state would personally respond to a rumor, especially by directly phoning the state‘s largest newspaper, struck many of us as
    inappropriate.

Sherry: your post is at a 9.6 grade level but you need to polish up your grammar and some of your spelling.

So, Sherry, you are admitting, as stated in the paragraph above, that you circulated a false rumor about Palin having an affair. In addition, you are justifying it because the National Enquirer said it was true. Really? Tsk, tsk, tsk. It’s bad enough that you cite them as a source of credibility. It also is another admission that you knew you were spreading a rumor, which was “confirmed” by the NE.

Please let me know where in the Bible it talks about the sin of spreading false rumors about someone. Especially spreading a rumor as vicious as adultery. Were you trying to break up the Palin’s marriage? That is bad, even if the person is your rival. I know the Bible also says something about loving your enemies. Spreading rumors is not a definition of love. Your hypocrite index is rising higher and higher.

I hope you don’t delete this post like you did the last time I caught you in a lie…

To all you haters here, your writing is not as good as Palin’s or at least in the same league as Palins. There are no literary geniuses here. I ran each of your posts through a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level analysis to produce the scores that I posted.

This may as well have been a yoga class for all the stretching you haters had to do to turn a compliment for Palin into something snarky. Especially, when most of you do not achieve the same level of writing as Palin does. Better pull the curtains on your glass houses.

BTW, this post is written at a 7.1 grade level.

I put a sampling of Ulysses by James Joyce in there and it got around 6. Readability tests are a flawed tool at best.

Readability analysis is based on sentence length, word length, number of sentences per paragraph, grammar, use of passive and active verbs among other things. It has nothing to do with quality of content. Just because James Joyce’s writing is easy to read doesn’t mean it is elementary. Sometimes you have to be very talented to be able to communicate in written words in a simple manner.

The standard Flesch-Kincaid readability test showed that Sarah Palin’s emails were written at an 8.5 grade level, “an excellent score for a chief executive.” To put some perspective on this number, Martin Luther King’s August 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech — much more heavily edited than Ms. Palin’s emails — ranked at 8.8 on the same scale, while Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address came in at 9.1.

Recent State of the Union addresses also showed Ms. Palin in good company. President George H.W. Bush’s average SOTU score was 8.6. Bill Clinton came in at 9.5. The “doddering old fool” Ronald Reagan logged an impressive 10.3 rating. And get this, George W. Bush edged the Great Communicator with a10.4 ranking.

Then there is President Obama, whose 2008 “Yes we can!” victory speech came in at a Flesch-Kincaid rating of 7.4. Some numbers just speak for themselves.
