Accusing Palin of Being Corrupt in Her Political Career

Mission for anti-Palin movement: Expose her

She is a promiscuous, petty and unintelligent, yet deviously conniving warmonger intent on capturing the Oval Office and, from there, the world.

Those are just some of the opinions about Sarah Palin held by members of a small but extremely active network of gadflies, bloggers and authors who have devoted much of the last 2½ years to proving their case to American voters.

This self-styled anti-Palin movement — whose members span the globe and are mostly but not exclusively liberals — has been behind some embarrassing revelations about the former Alaska governor, her family and allies. But some of their leading theories have been thoroughly discredited and earned them widespread criticism. (See: ‘Mama Grizzly’ Sarah Palin back on the prowl

Yet that only seems to have hardened a commitment to accomplishing what they profess to be their ultimate goal: the absolute and complete exposure of Palin as a fraud unworthy of a role in American civic life. And now, with Palin edging back into the political spotlight in the face of flagging poll numbers, they believe that they are closer than ever to achieving it. (See: Poll: The incredible shrinking Sarah Palin)

A number of forthcoming books promise to delve deeply into — and, they believe, give mainstream credibility to — some of the more salacious Palin rumors and conspiracy theories that have sprouted in the anti-Palin blogosphere and on supermarket tabloid stands but have mostly been rejected by the mainstream media.

“We’re at a tipping point, where her character and her lack of ethics will be revealed on the national stage,” asserted Sherry Whitstine, a 49-year-old grandmother who lives in Palin’s hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, and has infuriated her famous neighbors with blog posts and online comments accusing Palin of being unfaithful in her marriage and corrupt in her political career. (See: Troopergate report: Palin abused authority)

“Some things are just going to come to light that they just won’t be able to shake, and I have faith in that. It has already started, but these books will add to it,” she said.

The Palin camp has dismissed these critics as inconsequential ankle-biters but also has occasionally lashed out against the stories and rumors they have circulated. While the latter approach has engendered sympathy among her supporters, it’s also helped enable some of the rumors to break through into the “lamestream” media Palin so despises. (See: Sarah Palin trashes ‘lamestream media’)

Nonetheless, a source close to Palin downplayed the impact of the relentless scrutiny, telling POLITICO, “There are many things that are said on the Web about Gov. Palin that make it into the public domain. Many are so laughable, they don’t require a response.”

Their forbearance likely will be tested next month, when two major publishers will release books that have the anti-Palin movement buzzing.

St. Martin’s Press has scheduled a May 10 release of “The Lies of Sarah Palin: The Untold Story Behind Her Relentless Quest for Power,” by Santa Cruz, Calif.-based author and documentarian Geoffrey Dunn, who has joked that he might need three or four volumes to adequately cover the subject matter suggested in the title.

He told POLITICO he decided to write the book after hearing stories from Alaskans about Palin’s “childhood through her governorship that were troubling to me.” He said his goal is to frame Palin’s career in the contexts of both an Alaska political scene “plagued by a culture of corruption” and also in “the larger tradition of American political populism and demagoguery.”

A couple of weeks later, a Simon & Schuster imprint is set to offer a tell-all memoir by Frank Bailey, a disgruntled former top aide to Palin, using her personal emails to paint an ugly portrait of her as a vindictive and vain dilettante obsessed with her public image, who allegedly broke election laws and targeted a state trooper by leaking damaging information.  (See: Former Sarah Palin aide’s tell-all coming to bookstores near you)

Then, in September, Crown will release “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,” by journalist and author Joe McGinniss, whose decision to rent the house next door in Wasilla last summer prompted Palin to warn him to “leave my kids alone.” (See:Palin: McGinniss ‘disturbing’)

Thank you Syrin for your valuable posts on Sarah Palin. When a new post regarding her goes up anywhere, I look to see if you have weighed in and given your opinion or insight, because, you live in Wasilla, you know her, you know her family and friends, and at one time I think you shared the same (or what you thought were) political or social beliefs. It is so gratifying to hear your objective observations on Sarah Palin. She scares me but the media and the political game-changers behind her scare me more. And we need to uncover the truths about her in order to illuminate the persons and the reasons behind the support she has received in the media.

“…you live in Wasilla, you know her, you know her family and friends,…”

Yet Sighren still thinks Sarah is not Trig’s mother. If Sighren is so close to the Palins, surely she has some great insight about Palin’s “pregnancy” that she can share with us.

That’s right daisyDEMOCRAT, be afraid, be very afraid. What are you going to illuminate? That law abiding conservatives have a view and opinion of sleazy low life liberals like you and miss dippy here? We have a viewpoint and will strive to uphold conservative values… Your Evil fears good, as usual.

But does anyone –or do enough people– care about her lies? I keep thinking about what people say to me, insisting that she is presidential material, when they know about her being deceitful. What does SP mean to them? We have to find out what she represents that the Democrats and other Republicans are not giving us. We say that there are smarter American women who could do this, that SP can’t be the best that America has to offer, but none are coming forward.

Politicians are manipulative by nature. They are like wolves, bears, and tigers. They think about what they can get and how to do it, they do recognizance on their prey (the voters) and they figure out what they want to hear. If you take a politician out of his or her environment, he or she is still in the mode of analyzing what their time and spent energy can do to get them more.

I have a horrid fear of the workhouses coming back with the present batch of Republicans. More incarceration. The pendulum shifts, but I don’t know how bad it will get before people put a stop to it– could they construct laws that will make it impossible for changing draconian laws?

Well done, Syrin, and well said! I find it telling, and heartening, the first blogger quoted is a Christian, Conservative Alaskan who has directly experienced sarah´s leadership as a mayor and a governor. For this, I applaud Mister Vogel. Overall, I believe Mister Vogel´s article to be comprehensive and fair.

(I especially appreciate how he allows the readers to decide for themselves by providing all those links.)

    Long hoped-for headlines:

“Tired of lies and slogans, Americans demand facts and reasoning”

Thanks everyone for your support. I appreciated the article, but it’s being spun as if it’s a coordinated effort planned and executed by us ‘haters’ just to discredit poor Sarah. Isn’t Sarah who has discredited herself?
Why? Why do people find it necessary to defend her? But, I’m getting tired of having to even talk about her anymore! It should have become obvious by now that she’s incompetent and devisive.
I don’t think people care what the truth is about Palin. Seemingly, only because of the way I feel about Sarah Palin, I’m instead questioned about my conservative, Christian credentials. Who’s mind am I trying to change anyway?

You are pathetic. Your poll demonstrates you only attract liberals to this skanky rotting flesh of gutter sniping. You are a filthy phony liberal, while falsely claiming a valid conservative is a phony. What a brilliant strategy for someone who is incapable of an ethical presentation. Bravo….*smirk*

Hahahahaha! Cheer up, Sherry! Every avalanche starts with the roll of a small chunk of ice. My cupboard is packed with popcorn and ready for the show. How about you? BTW, I hear Ron Paul is trying to open the door on the clown car. This promises to be the most bizarre election I have ever seen.

Getting your Sarah Palin dirt from the National Enquirer (via the Daily Mail)? There’s a reputable source of information for you. I guess if you are afflicted with Palin Derangement Syndrome, any bit of mud from anywhere is credible.

Thanks for the link! The Palin family is totally pathetic in every way, shape and form!!
First off…The rotten fruit doesn’t fall too far from the rotten tree! Bris Bris is an idiot, and like her mother, she doesnt have common values of any party, platform or ideaology! Hahaha Sighren you’re a hoot. “…No one cares about her made up [sic] political views.” Except you of course. Otherwise you wouldn’t have started this scintillating blog where you can bitch and moan about Palin all day long.

Did Sarah cut you off in traffic one day? Is that what is fueling this deep seated hatred?

Give an example. What has she said or done that would contradict conservative values? Blather is all you are. Full of hate and jealousy. Not an articulate or well formed sentence or thought comes from your mush head. Go ahead and wallow in your faux popularity ‘blog’. Your whiny little atta girl fans show the same abysmal ignorance.

Give an example. Cite something factual. Do Something to make your point valid. What is there to learn from your pissing and moaning about a woman or her family?
NOTHING. Are you a leader in your community? Have you ever been elected anything besides dog catcher or ‘most unlikely to succeed’ in Wasilla?
