Las Vegas, Baby

Just returned from Las Vegas where my husband and I had a fantastic time! We only spent four nights at the Hard Rock HRH Tower. Amazing rooms, the first night we had champagne on ice and snack and we enjoyed our own iPod music. They had a in- the-wall iPhone charger and player that was blasting into every part of the room, lounge couches and a tv on either side of a center wall. The room was overlooking the sand beach pool with palm trees everywhere. We did enjoy one full day at the pool, drinking a gin and tonic, half-yard! I know, it’s easy to impress an Alaskan. However, not Texans!

We went  to celebrate my husband Tom’s 50th birthday. We met some old friends, there were six of us hanging in Vegas together. You guessed it, they’re from Texas and come to Vegas every year. But, not for the shows, not for the sports events, but, to gamble $2500 or more to win only $1500 back. And that is the good time that a lot of folks enjoy even if there are far larger stakes that have been gambled away.

But, our Texas friends did not like the HRH! The casino at HRH ‘Does not pay!”  So, because  we were off the strip just a block over, so we decided to walk by suggestion of my husband Tom.  Oh, my goodness, my poor husband did not hear the end of that one. I thought it was fun and we saw lots of sights on the way. But, the blisters and sore feet were the issue for the ladies, me included. But, it all worked out great, I had forgotten all my cosmetics and hair stuff, so I stopped into a store and picked some up right there on the strip. Our friends gambled at several different casinos, while Tom and I had a drink and checked out the rest of the place and enjoyed the live entertainment. If you’re a Facebook friend, I did a ‘Check In’ to every one of them along with hundreds of others! Every other trip to the strip was by taxi for the next 4 days and the Orleans was where we ended up on that day of ‘Pay Out’. The Orleans is where our friends won $1200.. It is exciting, you really think that you’re special until you think about all the money you really spent!!

Yes, Sarah was brought up, because FOX NEWS was continuely on in our friend’s room. Their room was where we all met each evening to re-group after our naps and get ready for the evening. Palin was not brought up by me but, by my friend who said that she doesn’t support her for president, but by the same token they truly believe that she was raked over the coals, mistreated and unbelieveable lies told about her.. I had to finally ask if it’s at all a possibility that what the MEDIA did say about Palin could have been true?

Some voters vote on superficial things such as “she is just like me”.  Which I found out quickly is the case here. Who ever it is, whatever their political party, some things are very obvious and beg to be noticed. Palin is sorely lacking in areas that matter blah, blah, blah.…We know them all!

So, I asked just to be clear…..Can we agree that she is not educated enough on the issues? She said, she’s not sure about that.. Can we agree that she is in this to be a celebrity not to further some kind of charitable cause? She said, she’s not sure about that, either. I mentioned that I believe there is so much more very unethical behavior by Sarah and her minions that the MSM has not talked about would certainly damage her political or celebrity status- which ever it is.

Well, this is it, our vacation is over.. On the last day we had a real Vegas show planned because the rest of the group had left that morning so we could make our own plans. We went to see  The Beatles Love Cirque du Soleil . Totally Amazing show! The after party at the REVOLUTION Club was also an added feature we had no idea was included.

I think a fun time was had by ALL! The time away from -7 for just a few days makes it bearable. We were living like a ‘ROCK STAR’ on a very conservative budget!

So glad you had a rocking good time in Vegas. I have never been, though I have a sister-in-law who has always wanted us to meet there sometime; she goes pretty often (she lives in Texas) and her son works for Southwestern so they fly free on standby. She gambles (very modestly, very, very modestly) but loves the shows, the lights and the food.

    Happy Birthday to your hubby!

You two are an adorable couple. Glad you had a wonderful time. You were extremely nice to the Texas couple regarding Palin. Being here in Texas myself, I am finding that more and more of the Conservatives here are turning on the dimwit. She made a complete ass of herself in India this morning. I’m sure you will be blogging about it when you get rested up.

Welcome back. Missed you. Read you every single day.

I think you showed amazing restraint. Surely your Texas friends know that you have lived in the same town as the Tundra Turd for many years. Surely they also know about your blog. Well, I get the same response from some of my family. They think I’m obsessed with her. I think they need to pay better attention to what is going on in this country. I guess it isn’t cool to be politically aware.

Well, Vegas is where I don’t want to get mired down in Palin Poop! Politics, espeically [Sarah] makes for a bad situation while partying in Vegas. I tried to stay away from getting upset- or worse upsetting someone. 🙂

So glad you had a good time in Vegas. I have not been there in years and people tell me it is a totally different world than when I used to go – 30-40 years ago. Very upscale and has been compared to going to Disneyland. Anyway – glad you, your husband and your friends had a memorable time.
PS Thanks again for the e-mails. Wondered why I had not heard from you for a couple of days.
