Sarah Palin: “Rumors like I didn’t know Africa was a continent, that’s still out there”

Really Sarah? Rumors that you’re less than intelligent, a lie?
Sarah Palin: Africa Is A Continent, Rumors I Don’t Know That Are ‘Lies’

Sarah Palin alluded to a suggestion made in the aftermath of the 2008 presidential campaign that she didn’t know Africa was a continent — and not a country — in an interview with the BBC published online on Monday.

“Rumors like I didn’t know Africa was a continent, that’s still out there, that’s a lie,” she told the U.K.-based outlet when asked about criticism of her intellectuality. The former Alaska governor reportedly seemed “tense” when she was confronted with the matter.

On the heels of Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) loss to President Barack Obama in the 2008 race, intriguing details about the internal operations of the pair’s campaign began to trickle out. HuffPost’s Nick Graham reported at the time:

According to Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron, there was great concern within the McCain campaign that Palin lacked “a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency,” in part because she didn’t know which countries were in NAFTA, and she “didn’t understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series, a country just in itself.”

In the wake of the revelation, Palin lashed out and called the suggestion “cruel” and “mean-spirited.”

“If there are allegations based on questions or comments that I made in debate prep about NAFTA, and about the continent vs. the country when we talk about Africa there, then those were taken out of context,” she said. “It’s immature. It’s unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”

Several years later, Palin is now stirring speculation that she could run for president in 2012.

Via the Atlantic comes video of the 2008 Fox News segment that prompted some to question Palin’s geographic knowledge.

Poor, Poor Sarah, are we supposed to feel sorry for her now? I don’t think so. She also didn’t know the difference between North and South Korea.

“…about NAFTA, and about the continent vs the country when we talk about Africa there,…”

Jesus, the country is SOUTH AFRICA. Palin proved the McCain camp right with her ignorant self-defense.

I worked for a .com start-up years ago. The brains of that operation would say about people that “there are the Learners and the Learned”….. Obviously Sarah is the “Learned”.

So, if things are taken out of context, why doesn’t she quickly fix them? She just waits to criticize and criticize. That’s telling in itself.

She can’t fix things, she just whines about it. That is very, extremely, extremely poor communication!

“. . .then those were taken out of context,” she said. “It’s immature. It’s unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away with it, taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.””

Gee, when someone points out the obvious about Sarah Palin, they are ‘jerks, immature, unfair and unprofessional.’ It must be nice to apply those principles to others but NEVER, NEVER on her own irresponsible, reckless and intellectually-deficient behavior.

“Rumors like I didn’t know Africa was a continent, that’s still out there, that’s a lie.”

Way to remind us of your total lack of qualifications, Sarah! Thanks! We might have forgotten this nugget from 2008 if you hadn’t brought it up.

she’s the perpetual grudge-holder, isn’t she? Amazing, isn’t it? Think of all the horrible things people say about President Obama – this is pretty much par for the course with politicians. Remember the [false] story that Bush waved at Stevie Wonder? Just imagine how Sarah would keep that alive if it had been said about her. The “Africa is a continent” thing is no more inflammatory or damaging than all the stupid teleprompter jokes – if you ignore it. Can you imagine if President Obama spent as much energy as Sarah does, obsessing with countering teleprompter jokes?

I believe that Abraham Lincoln holds the record as the most written about person in U.S. history.

I now believe that Sarah Palin will, at some point, beat Abraham Lincoln’s record. The historians will have a field day (decade)!

Let’s not forget that Sarah didn’t know that England and Great Britain were the same thing! I do think it incredible that she brings up things in the past because she is so vindictive. Actually all it does is refresh everyone’s memory regarding her lack of knowledge.

The most interesting thing she has rekindled is the “rumors” that Trig is not her child. Well, that’s an easy fix – show us the birth certificate. It shouldn’t have to take two years for her to produce something bogus.

Yes, Sarah, the rumors are still out there because you keep reminding us of it.

England and Great Britain aren’t the same thing. England, Wales and Scotland together comprise Great Britain.
