Rick Santorum: Sarah Palin Has Some Demands On Her Time, And A Lot Of Them Have Financial Benefit

Rick Santorum knocked Sarah Palin’s decision to skip CPAC, saying on Tuesday that she must have “business opportunities” that are keeping her from the annual conservative conference that is a showcase for potential presidential contenders.

“I have a feeling that she has some demands on her time, and a lot of them have financial benefit attached to them,” Santorum told conservative commentator S.E. Cupp, who hosts an online radio show on Glenn Beck’s website.

Santorum added that Palin has “other business opportunities” — implying her paid speeches were  Palin’s priority.

Palin has become a money-making machine since 2008, with her annual income estimated as high as $30 million.

Santorum — the father of seven children — also said that Palin has “other responsibilities,” such as raising her children, that he doesn’t.

“I don’t live in Alaska and I’m not the mother to all these kids and I don’t have other responsibilities that she has,” he said.

And, where is he wrong in his statement? I’m sorry but, someone has to call it the way it is! I think he’s giving her the benefit of the doubt that she’d even be interested in that responsibility of ‘motherhood’.

I felt in his statement he made the truthful comparison that he as a man in politics doesn’t have child rearing to be responsible for on a day to day basis. However, little does he know … either does Sarah! It appears to me that the position/duty of (Parenting) in the Palin’s household has been vacant for decades!

All the righteous anger and perceived sexism of Rick Santorum’s comment will never cover up the exploitation and dysfunction that has been obvious for many years to me and these last two years for you! I think if he continues to comment freely about Palin when asked, and doesn’t pander to a small group. He’ll start seeing some gain in respect, if nothing else.

Well, he comes off as a male chauvinist pig to me!

However, you really have to wonder who was raising the kids when Sarah was doing her political thing and Todd was up on the Slope. Sarah bragged about how Track asked her not to run one time and she didn’t, but it seems to me that her decision had more to do with how her polling numbers were doing than how her kids were doing. How else do you explain her running for Governor when he was in the throes of a serious drug addiction? And running for Vice President when Bristol was in the throes of a teenage pregnancy?

I’ve known people out in the Valley who’ve told me that they think she’s an “excellent mother”, and I have to wonder what planet they’ve actually been residing on these past ten years.

She used to tell people that she was overwhelmed by the mayor’s job and just wanted to go back to being a stay-at-home mom. I guess her narcissistic nature wouldn’t allow it though, as she just kept reaching for jobs that she was less and less qualified for, and that would take her away from her kids more and more.

Maybe Santorum has agreed to be the “bad guy” and bring out all Palin’s personal failure’s. I doubt if he has a real shot at the nomination, so that might be right up his alley.

Your first line said it all to me. Ricky is another Palin. The only difference is wears pants and he speaks better then she does. But he is just as nutty as she is.

I read that his wife had a baby and it died. He brought the dead child home for the weekend before they buried it. If it is true he is crazy. I certainly don’t want this guy for president. I swear we are looking like the country is going backwards instead of moving forward. We are in trouble with this new way republicans are thinking. Come on moderate republicans start speaking up and take back your party from these crazy people on the extreme right.

Todd work record was very sporadic up on the slope. During the time that Sarah was dreaming all this up is how I got involved. I kept wondering where is Sarah? Not doing mom stuff, not doing husband stuff. (SnoX racing).I had an immidiate sense of doom. Sorry, it’s spiritaul, she’s had a way made for her. But, it is not GOD. My Christian GOD, anyway….

We’d see him and Willow and Piper usually, every other weekend. We’d see him when he was suppose to be at work. My husband would ask him if he changed shifts?. Meaning that he’s home when he should be at work. When he was at work I know of mom’s of friends of the Palin kids having taken the resposibility to run them around and sometimes stay with. But, Molly and Heather are always there. The girls always looked so sad. The proof is in the dysfunction we see through all the media coverage that she pursues..

She’s not the mother to all of them either, Ricky Boy. In fact there are only two children in that house that are hers, and who knows how much time the eldest actually spends at home. If she’s anything like her older sister, she’s not home all that often.

I’m not sure about your statement – I believe she is the mother of 4 of them, but Toad might be the father of just two…

I have worked as a school nurse for over 10 years. I have also worked with handicapped pre school population and their parents.
My first reaction to sarah palin was very negative. Not because she is incompetent, nasty and vindictive as I found out later, but because of Trig and Bristol.
I understand that to be asked to be a VP candidate must be a dream come true, BUT.
I cannot understand that decision as a mother. How could she?
How could she take that position with a pregnant 17 year old and a baby with DS?
Most parents I know that have a DS child are very very involved with their child. There are hours of therapy, Dr. visits and just plain parenting. She also had a pregnant daughter that needed enormous support.
Plus she had a son in the army and another wild teenager at home and an 8 year old that missed tons of school.
I really can’t stand her because she promotes her family, yet appears to be the most hands off mother that I have ever ever seen.
And honestly, don’t you suppose that God really told her to stay at home for a couple of more years, finish the job as Gov. and take care of her family?

“What kind of woman knowing all of this, knowing this is happening, would put her children in the position where the whole nation, the whole world, is going to see their uglies? It’s just putting their dirty laundry out there for all to see. It just hurts my heart.”

Bravo! Finally, someone (even if it is Rick Santorum) is calling Sarah Palin out. She doesn’t appear if the check hasn’t cleared.

I agree! Bravo! He’ll gain respect for calling her out even if his chances are not good for the nomination..But, I ask why is Sarah halfterm/quiter Palin’s chance so positive. Oh, she’s the REAL DEAL.. She should be shunned and discredited for her crazy talk, by ALL. She’s lowered the bar, the standard of ethical behavior and required intellect in a public office, for both / all sides. If they can get away with it, they will do it for power and prestige and money. My, public servce is so profitable!

Wait. What? If she has all these other responsibilities such as being the “…mother of all these kids…,” why isn’t she home attending to them? What is the difference between going to CPAC and running around the country prostituting herself to every group stupid enough to pay her to spew venom and word salad upon them. Oh, I’m guessing CPAC wasn’t going to be paying her $100,000 + bendy straws. Never mind.

I find the republican men very hypocritcal. If this had been a democratic woman from the beginning the republican party would be yelling why isn’t she home taking care of her family and especially the special needs child. Steep in bully shit. Had this been the Clinton girl who came home unwed with a baby you know all hell would have broken out. The republicans would be saying the family values bull crap. They pass themselves off as good christains with family values. Hypocrites the lot of them. They are no better then the democratics. The only difference is democratics don’t go around running on family values.

Perhaps Todd spends the majority of his time with the youngest child?

I know several people who are familiar with Downs children who were very concerned that he rarely appeared in public with hearing aids and glasses. I hope that it was just for photographic purposes, because I have seen first hand what the delay of having a cochlear implant can do to deaf children. They never catch up to the ones that were able to hear at only a year or two earlier. The first couple of years are extremely critical to the ability to speak well.

Of course there are those who prefer their children to speak sign language, but why limit a child’s opportunities by severely reducing the number of people that they can communicate with? Just my opinion.

I have a deaf sister who has taught me a great deal about deafness. For one thing, the hearing aids are horribly annoying and not helpful if he can’t distinguish what is being said. They only amplify the noise. I don’t know the extent of Trig’s hearing problems, but I know my sister was diagnosed as hard of hearing at the age of four. Yes, she can hear some sharp sounds like a dog barking, but for all intents and purposes, she is deaf. Amplifying sounds is excrutiating to her and useless. I have wondered about a cochlear implant for Trig. Typically deaf parents don’t want cochlear implants because they do not see themselves as disabled. They see themselves as having a different culture. I know it is hard to wrap your mind around that if you are hearing, but it is very real to them. Deaf people don’t think that they need to be “fixed.”

Now the glasses are a different matter entirely. But then again, the Palins couldn’t be bothered to dress poor little Trig appropriately for cold weather either. That alone is abusive. Jackasses.

None of the children I was around appeared to be in discomfort because of the cochlear implants, but I’m sure that there are pro’s and con’s to making that decision. I could definitely see hearing aids being uncomfortable.

My only major insight is that the children who had gotten their ability to hear sounds later in life (as in only a year or two) were MUCH harder to understand when they spoke. I do understand that there is a “deaf” culture. Somehow I don’t think the Palin’s would go to the trouble of immersing their child into it. But perhaps I do them a disservice.

The only people that I know who had a Downs Syndrome baby were constantly flying to Seattle for the first couple of years of the child’s life. I don’t know if that is typical or unusual for Downs Syndrome babies and toddlers.

And yes, there does seem to be some kind of strange acceptance of the Palin teen’s bad behavior that would sink any other candidates prospects. Of course, most other candidates would put their political careers on hold until the child either got his/her act together or became an adult. I really can’t think of a single high profile politician whose children did any of the kinds of things that the Palin kids have done. Al Gore’s son got into trouble for drugs but I believe it was when he was an adult and after Gore was out of politics?

Perhaps because the Palins were minors and the records sealed is the difference. The Tea Partiers can pretend it never happened? To me, the fact that these kids were hard core partiers. committing vandalism crimes, theft, and sexually active at such young ages reflects so much more badly on the parents than if they had gone astray after leaving home and the influence of dear old Mom and Dad.

To Akbatwoman, right about the cochlear implants. I meant that it would make sense that Trig didn’t have the implant if both his parents were deaf. It makes no sense with both “parents” being able to hear. Hearing aids might not be useful for him. As for the glasses, I don’t get that at all unless he refuses to keep them on. However, I have seen many toddlers with glasses strapped on, so that makes no sense that Trig doesn’t wear them. I feel so sorry for that poor little neglected child, but then again, all of the Palin children have been neglected.

I’ve said this before and I will say it again – the repubs created her and they know they’re the only ones that can eliminate her. they created a monster and didn’t anticipate this becoming a situation with the “tail” wagging the “dog”.

She took off like a rocket and created a firestorm of attention. Notoriety confuses some people that arent’ paying attention…they equate it with relevance and leadership. Neither of which applies to her.

There are so many things going on at the same time concerning all things palin. But you can be sure the repubs KNOW they need to dismantle the palin machine without losing her insane followers, including the strange tea party circus. Everytime a republican takes a shot at her..it makes me smile. There is SO much more to come. Count on it.

Can you imagine the backlash if President O’bama’s kids came home pregnant, got arrested for vandalism, dropped out of school, used foul and offensive language and slurs on facebook, preached abstinence while living with a boyfriend after giving birth twice already? To name a few…:-)

I can’t imagine President O’bama, his wife, children or any other family members behaving like trailer trash the way the palins do.

Oh, and Todd palins’ interest with prostitutes…..omg. All things palin….
