There’s One In Every Crowd

Palin and Bachmann Nitpicker Chris Matthews Says Panama Canal Is In Egypt

By Noel Sheppard

As NewsBusters has been reporting almost ad nauseam, Chris Matthews spent much of last week mercilessly lambasting Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann with cherry-picked and distorted quotes far afield of their intended meaning.

On Friday, the “Hardball” host got a touch of instant karma when he said the Panama Canal is in Egypt (video follows with transcript and commentary):

CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: You know, the great thing about Egypt is it’s its own country. It was always there before there was an America or Britain or anything, there has been an Egypt. It’s like China. It’s a real country. It wasn’t just carved off the map or out of the map by the Europeans, like so many African and third world countries have.

It’s got a real rooted history. It’s not just an Arab country. It was a country long before it was an Arab country — long before Islam, there was an Egypt. Will it see itself in this moment of chaos as joining a greater Islamic world or is holding to its national identity?

AMB. MARC GINSBERG, FMR. U.S. AMBASSADOR TO MOROCCO (via telephone)GINSBERG: There’s no doubt that the Egyptians view themselves as the center of culture in the Arab and the Muslim world and the center of Islamic learning. I studied there. I used to take classes at the al-Azhar University, which is considered to be the pre-eminent Islamic institution in the Muslim world, Chris.

GINSBERG: And the fact is that there’s enormous pride going back to the history of the pharaohs. The Egyptians embrace their ancient culture. But they’re very dissatisfied with their current regime.

MATTHEWS: Well, let me ask you about the prospects we’re looking at as an American. We’re looking at the map of the world right now and where Egypt sits in the world. It’s so strategically located. It has, of course, the Nile River. It has, of course, the Panama Canal.

Syrin, I hate when you produce one of these articles that makes the Alaskan Dingbat and the Minnesota Cuckoo look less stupid than usual. We were on a roll here and you derailed the clown train. ;->

The difference is that he isn’t going to get his flying monkeys out in force explaining it away and trying to show that of course he knows where the Panama Canal is, it was a joke or it was a slip of the tongue.(Palin) He also isn’t going to talk over anyone who corrects him and insist that of course the Panama Canal isn’t in Egypt and no one said it was. (Bachmann)

He corrected himself about 10 seconds later.

Which is another huge difference. Chris Matthews knew he was wrong within 10 seconds and corrected himself immediately. The Tundra Turd never knows when she is wrong and keeps trying to justify her stupid errors.

Most of the time with Paylin and Bachmann you can’t tell if they are lying or stupid or both. They sure give Christians a bad name with all their hate, lies, and unethical behavior.

Chris Matthews doesn’t have a PAC and is not a politician or leader wannabe. Hell, he doesn’t even have a tv studio in his home like SP!

All true! I understand that he also corrected himself.. I post it this for the sake of conversation.
However, Palin is a politican because the media is perpetuating her as such. She holds NO position of accountability. A matter of fact, her brief stint as an ‘executive’ could be dissected into a millon pieces if these ‘talkingheads’ would do it in a bipartisian way not building this idiot political whore as the real deal conservative Republican. It’s maddening to me..
She is able to tweet, post on FB and spew at conventions that she wants to run for president and what gives her the idea that she’s capable? The media!Matthews is a politcal commentor, he has his own program, he dispenses his own opinion and sometime his own facts. While he as I said, only randomly would have misspoke about a fact, he has given place to Palin, not actively trying to expose her.

Just out.. I recognize that Chris Matthews has more good days than bad!

Matthews called Bachmann a “balloon head” on for saying that the Founding Fathers “worked tirelessly to end slavery.” He noted that, besides the fact that many of the founders owned slaves, and that slavery only ended nearly a hundred years after the founding of America…

Why are they not calling Palin out on the absurd notion of her ever holding a public office? Why have they not made it a focus that this woman quit the only job that would give her credibility. But, while in that job, she used state resources for her own personal enrichment and was found guilty of abuse of power. Of course she also has been hiding hundreds of pages of emails that will probably be REDACTED and also subverting the law. But, all say, what a force when she’s actually a farce!
