Will: There Is No Way Sarah Palin Can Be Elected

There is no way Sarah Palin can be elected president, according to conservative commentator George Will, who argued over the weekend that a primary victory by the half term Alaska governor could serve as President Obama’s “secret weapon.”

By Nick Wing

“The president’s secret weapon may be the Republican nominating electorate, because there is one person, high in the polls, Sarah Palin, who cannot be elected president because she cannot compete where elections are decided — in the collar counties outside Chicago, Montgomery County outside of Philadelphia — just can’t compete there,” Will said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Will elaborated in a subsequent internet-only interview in “The Green Room,” referencing Palin’s failed endeavors after losing the presidential race in 2008:

“She had to go back and be a successful governor of Alaska, and she had to do her homework. She’s done neither. The hope is that perhaps she’s making so much money — and she’s an astute businesswoman — that she won’t want to take the pay-cut to become a mere presidential candidate.”

While Palin has fielded increasing criticism from fellow conservatives on a variety of issues, Will’s attack marks the second time in a week the former vice presidential candidate has been cited for her supposedly minimal chances of defeating Obama.

In December, Charles Krauthammer argued Palin had no business in the Republican primary simply because she would be a serious underdog if she were to make her way to the presidential ticket.

“Her negatives are over 50 percent,” Krauthammer said. “She has no chance of winning a general election. Why would you want a candidate who is going to lose against a Democrat who is going to be vulnerable and who is also extremely ideologically ambitious?”

A recent CNN poll showed solidifying support for Obama among Democrats, even as Republicans cool to Sarah Palin.

I’ve watched (painfully) and listened (more painfully!)
Sarah from day 1 and I hoped she would end up being her own worst enemy. I figured that if she was given enough rope, she’d hang herself. There is SO much wrong with this woman she should be a mental case study for years to come. Keep proving me right Sarah. You have jumped the shark and there is NO WAY you can redeem yourself and for that I thank you!

I think, though, Sarah Palin will run and ruin the GOP without getting the nomination. I don’t think she cares if she ruins the GOP. She has the money to live happily ever after. For sure, wherever she is, Palin is an obstructionist–and a dangerous.

It is amazing how she thinks she is an expert over doctors, lawyers, economists, nutritionists, military brass, insurance execs, scientists, the Pres, etc, etc, which she has shown this year and last with her rants and lies.
