Andrew Halcro: I retract my blog defending Dan’s right to free speech

By Andrew Halcro

November 1, 2010: Due to further information gathered and transcripts reviewed from the Dan Fagan show over the weekend, I retract my blog defending Dan’s right to free speech concerning the incident that occurred on Thursday, as what he did was more than exercise his first amendment rights.

I sincerely apologize to my readers.

The right to free speech is paramount in a free society but that does not include the right to use the public airwaves to try and disenfranchise legitimate votes from innocent voters.

Regarding the event on Thursday, I was under the impression that Fagan was simply trying to encourage voters to register to run as a write in. That’s one thing that deserves a protection of the freedom of speech.

However what Fagan did was intentionally encourage voters with names close to Lisa Murkowski to file as write-ins so that Lisa’s votes could be thrown out.

“We’re only trying to disenfranchise the votes that are wrong, only trying to make a mockery out of the voters who are voting wrong,” Fagan said on the air.

While freedom of speech is protected, this is blatant election tampering…even Fagan admitted as much. I’m only tampering with the election so the right candidate gets the victory, he said.

This is like yelling fire in a crowded movie theatre because you don’t like the movie the people choose to watch. And as we all know, yelling fire in a crowded movie theatre maliciously is not protected speech.

What Dan Fagan did was childish and crossed the boundaries of fairness to the men and women who go to the polls. Even more so are the fools who followed his instructions and went down to file with the intent of negating their fellow Alaskans votes.

But those would be Joe “the liar” Miller supporters, so it’s not surprising. It’s a sign of desperation that has know grown into vote tampering.

Fagan being taken off the air was the right call.

He should pay for his attempts to tamper with the election.

I totally love me some Andrew! I read that blog and wondered why he would agree with Dan “I need a shrink to deal with my issues” Fagan.

Sure glad he saw the light!
