Black Republicans: Palin ‘no longer fit to lead’

Palin: I quit Alaska governorship so that 'obstructionists wouldn't win'

Sarah Palin's passionate and repeated defense of talk show host Dr. Laura shows the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate is "no longer fit to lead," prominent black conservatives say.

The Daily Beast's John Avlon interviewed black leaders in the Republican Party and conservative movement and found few willing to back Palin's defense of Laura Schlessinger, who announced this week she would be ending her long-running radio show after using the "n-word" 11 times during a debate with a caller.

Michel Faulkner, a Republican challenging House Rep. Charlie Rangel in this fall's election, told Avlon: “Why Sarah Palin feels she needs to join in to Dr. Laura’s personal meltdown is beyond me. She’s sounding like she just likes to hear her own voice—and the voice that she has is no longer credible. It says that a leading voice among conservatives has joined the ranks of the entertainers—trying to shock us each day with more and more outlandish commentary. And at that moment that person is no longer fit to lead.”

The anger at Palin coming from black conservatives led Avlon to conclude that Palin "might finally have gone too far and picked a fight she cannot win."

Palin sent out a series of Tweets earlier this week, urging Dr. Laura not to be silenced by the anger over her comments. "Don't retreat … reload!" Palin urged Schlessinger.

"Lady, are you kidding me?" Faulkner asked. "That is scary language in anyone’s terminology. Sarah Palin scares me."

Conservative columnist Deroy Murdock "took an even harder line" with Palin, the Daily Beast reports:

Sarah Palin's tweets resemble something scribbled by a ninth-grade cheerleader. Is it asking too much for a reputed American political leader to communicate in complete sentences? Palin's gravitas gap is growing into the Gravitas Canyon,” said the media fellow at the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University. “Even worse, she deploys her vacuity to defend an acerbic talk-show host who just detonated herself by tossing around the word 'ni**er' on the air 11 times, as if it were a volleyball. The American right can do better than this. And it must.

Sarah Palin is nothing more than a self-serving, loud-mouth, ignorant bigot who cares not upon whom she may tread to get what she wants. Exactly what has she done to justify the air she breathes and the space she consumes?

Has Palin really gone too far this time? If she has – and she acknowledges as much – will she admit her mistake partly or fully? Will she herself offer a proper apology… one filled with newly-minted Palinisms, misspellings and poor syntax so that we can be sure this so-called journalism major didn't pay someone else to do it for her?

Good to see you sjohnson, hope your summer has been a good one..
Ha! You know, it's been that way for it seems decades. You said it in your opening statement "Sarah Palin is nothing more than a self-serving". The dander she claims to be a public servant. It has always been that way.

Welcome back FlynnD, thanks for your comment.
Would an apology be ACCEPTED? And, to think that she would acknowledge the notion to apologize, to ask forgiveness! This my friend is futile, insane– it will never happen! The Palinisms, misspellings and poor syntax is a given!! 🙂

It is not within Sarah Palin's skill set to forgive or to ask for forgiveness. In spite of all her crazy rhetoric and bravado, she must be a very, very sad, unhappy, and utterly lonely person. It is a disgrace that her family has done nothing to get her the psychiatric help that she needs. I have no doubt that her mental illness has been apparent for years.

Nothing like stirring the pot re: Sarah and a never-to-come apology! What was I thinking?!! I
often get the feeling that her kids (I mean Willow and possibly Track)
and their friends scour all the anti-Palin sites in order to laugh at
her behind her back and the more they see that folks can see right
through the self-anointed Mama Bear, barracuda, pit bull, ad nauseum… then maybe they'll become emboldened to speak up and expose her for the
lazy, smart-mouthed harpy she is (perhaps a very-public scrap with their
mother is in the offing? We can only hope!). I truly think it's merely a
matter of time before her own do her in!

Perhaps you aren't a parent. I would never wish that her kids would turn on her and go public with the family laundry; however, I hope that they will turn away from her character traits. So, yes, it would be a good thing if they discovered and accepted the public turn-off to their mother's very unChristian behavior and became determined to be different. Going public with their insider knowledge would most likely cause a life-time of psychological damage to Sarah's children. I wouldn't want that for anyone.

IMHO–Just to interject a point real quick….. The kids and their insider knowledge has already caused a life-time of psychological damage for Sarah's children!!! It's been in the works before anyone ever heard of this inept human being…The proof is played out in these kids behavior everyday in Wasilla, Ak.No, I wouldn't want it for my children nor would you! However, we did not exploit our children for personal gain and glory…So, I think that the way for her to be stopped in her unethical, corrupt tracks is by a someone with a stressed personal relationship with whackjob..

I thought "…their insider knowledge hasalready caused a life-time of psychological damage for Sarah's children…" was a given. I personally believe that it will have an even greater negative impact on them if her parenting is exposed by her children in a public venue. I could be wrong. Perhaps it would be therapeutic for them. If it happens, it would most likely come from one child who would then be ostracized by the entire extended family. It would be like leaving a cult; there would be no going back.

To Syrin and sjohnson,You both reminded me that our fight, if we want to call it that, is with the former 1/2 term 1/2 Gov. and no one else… 'cepting maybe the other half of the political tag team, Todd Palin, and should not wish for her kids to be unduly hurt by any of this. I'm humbled by, yet grateful for, your insight.

Sarah could certainly take a lesson from you. Unfortunately, "humble" is also not in her skill set. While I find her kids to be often obnoxious and spoiled, I also feel compassion for them and the lives they have had to lead. How could the be any different with parents like that? What chance do they have after a lifetime of indoctrination and neglect from a huge family of crazies?

O/T alert –I decided to listen to our blog host's radio broadcast (google Syrin Radio and follow the links) and I'm certainly glad I did! To fully appreciate her love for her state; to hear her help to explain the necessity of getting the oil and gas industry fully engaged in the integrated development of Alaska's VAST oil and gas reserves; to hear her SLAM Sarah Palin with the true facts of her failed 1/2 term administration I'd recommend your listening to a re-broadcast of Syrin's show for yourself. Syrin for Governor?!
