Barbour diplomatic about Steele, Palin

Barbour is diplomatic perhaps. However, if you have to compare a man regardless of his politics, who IS the president to a woman who IS NOTHING but a self indulgent, liar and petty two bit political whore, well then, your opinion is worthless anyway. Talking to you Haley Barbour! It has become painfully clear to me as a Conservative Republican that we've lost our way. Can't even call a fraud a FRAUD!! Most of the rightwing following someone like Sarah is blinded by ignorance and perpetuate their own kind of false hopey changy thing and Sarah WhackJob Palin is their leader. How's that workin out for ya? It's clear to me the lack of honesty and integrity is what will kill the party of Lincoln.

– A leading Republican is being diplomatic when it comes to the fate of two of the most prominent and controversial members of his party.

In an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour was diplomatic when asked about Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele.

“I expect him to be head of the party for the rest of his term,” Barbour, himself a former RNC chair, told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

For the past two weeks, Steele has been embroiled in a controversy over the RNC’s spending and his stewardship of the national party committee. In a recent interview, Steele, who is the RNC’s first African-American chairman, likened himself to President Obama and suggested that both he and the president have “a slimmer margin” for error because of their race.

Asked about Steele’s remark, Barbour said he did not believe Steele was being held to a higher standard because of the color of his skin.

“That's like me saying I think I'm held to the higher standard because I'm a fat redneck with an accent like this,” Barbour said, making a joking reference to his stereotypical Southern drawl. “The fact of the matter is in that job, people are judged by results and that's just the way it is. It's the way it was for me, it's the way it was for everybody since then.”

Barbour added that he does not believe it is right for any former GOP chair to criticize the current chairman.

And the Mississippi governor was equally diplomatic about former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

“Do you think she's qualified to be president right now?,” asked Crowley. “Do you think she’s had the background and the experience if she does run to be qualified for the job?”

“Well, of course, I didn't think President Obama had the background experience to be qualified, so the fact of the matter is, she is legally qualified, and after that it's up to the American people,” Barbour said. “Just like it was for Senator Obama, now President Obama.”

    Let me say what I want to hear from a high ranking Republican concerning Sarah Palin:
    As follows,
    Currently Mrs. Palin has no real accountability or holds a title, I believe she reliquished that when another is taking her place. Frankly, she quit a position that Alaskans voted her into, in trust. As far as qualified goes. Hell no she's not qualified! Has she expressed anything other than talking points and sound bites? It seems that the party and the 'lamestream media' didn't check Mrs. Palin's record. The 'lamestream media' would like Mrs. Palin to be the face of a Conservative Republican, because she's a 'whackjob' and creates controversy and confusion on what we Conservatives really believe. According to her political record she's never finished out a term or a position without some type of ethical scandal. When given the chance to stand for conservitive issues, Mrs. Palin has gone the opposite way or avoided the issue altogether. She raised taxes on private industry and grew government to the highest level that Alaska has ever seen. The final haresy is she took the wind fall tax and redistributed it in a socialist way.. You think she qualified to run as a Conservative? She can run as a Republican, she's old enough.

    i liked how he said she has a legal right to be president,a not so subtle hint that all of obama's records are still in doubt

    Funny that, I took it to mean that she had the legal right but not the credentials to become president.

    Aww gee whiz, Ken, perhaps you should look for freedom the way Syrin and I do. You would see a brighter future and be a happier person. At least you recognize your problem. :~ }
