Will YOU Endure Sound Doctrine?

'Sound doctrine' is the sound, useful, and practical teaching that finds its source in the Word of God. Such is for the edification or building up of the true believer. As the apostle points out in Ephesians 4: 12, the ministry gifts are for the "edifying [building up] of the Body of Christ. The ultimate goal of the varied gifts is to establish and build up the Church. The ultimate goal of 'sound doctrine' is to establish and build up the Church.

It is interesting to note that, because some will not endure 'sound teaching', Timothy was instructed to persist in his teaching and be prepared to 'endure suffering'. Whenever 'sound doctrine' becomes unpopular, opposition is sure to follow with the attendant danger of compromise on the part of those teaching the Word.

In his discussion, the apostle expresses his thought negatively and positively and states it twice: they will not endure 'sound doctrine', and, positively, will heap [accumulate or multiply] teachers having 'itching ears', that is, to suit their own liking. 'Sound doctrine’ will not be tolerated. As one commentator puts it, there will be 'an itch' for novelty, those with no self control. Here is an 'itch' for the novel, which is met by novel teachers. 'Sound doctrine' is rejected. Their preference is their own desires or lusts. In other words, the criterion for judging a leader is not the Word of God, but rather ones own tastes or desires. The matter becomes even worse when such do not first listen and then decide what is true. First, they decide what they want to hear (their own desires) and then invite leaders and teachers who will give what they desire to hear.

Finally, there will always be those who deny 'sound doctrine'. They are in pulpits today and have been in the past. However, the denial of 'sound doctrine' is done in a more subtle way today. To deny the fundamentals of the faith has always been with us. For this we are prepared. Is the Church prepared for the more subtle denial it is experiencing today? The danger we are witnessing today is the substituting of experience for the Word of God. Experience is replacing the objective Word. In the lives of many professing Christians, experience has become the authority, and the authoritative Word has been, in many cases, set aside. 'Sound doctrine' is being replaced by personal experience. In many cases, reason and good judgement has not been applied to our activity in the arts and politics.  We must not make the tragic mistake of teaching the experiences of the apostles. We must experience the teachings of the apostles, the 'sound doctrine'.

To meet the challenges of the last days, the Church does not primarily need new and innovative programs (although such are necessary), novel attractions and entertainment. If the Church is to meet the need of its own edification and the need of the world both at home and abroad, there must be a return to 'sound doctrine'. Without a sound foundation there is no foundation and no building up.

Let us heed the word of the aged apostle, "Preach (proclaim or announce) the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine" (2 Timothy 4:2).

Obviously? It seems to me it's you that doesn't know the precepts and promises of the LORD. You are standing on shaky ground!
Without a sound foundation there is no foundation and no building up. You and many others are on shaky ground if you support the unethical and perverse behavior of Sarah Palin.
The LORD said "Preach (proclaim or announce) the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine" (2 Timothy 4:2).

Do not confuse God's Word with your personnal animus for Sarah Palin.
Do you understand 2 Timothy 4:2? Are you using this as your justification for your attacks on Sarah Palin?
How does tearing down Sarah Palin build up anything or anyone?

You worship Sarah Palin as a entity, you give her godly aspirations- when there is none. You, do not know Palin, or know her day to day failures, there is no truth found in her. I say she's unethical, ungodly and she has no self control, she's assumes herself as GOD… Example…
In a letter she e-mailed to relatives and close friends Friday after giving birth, Palin wrote, "Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. You will have to trust me on this." She wrote it in the voice of and signed it as "Trig's Creator, Your Heavenly Father."
As for you and all the other crazy cultist out there <goddess worship> that's not of GOD. Don't compromise the truth for a lie or a liar………

Goddess worship, cultist, Sarah Palin worship, are you mad?
Now, I read your links. The first one, nice article thanks. Do you know what VOICE means within the context of the subject. To express in another voice is a talent of writers. Novels could not be written without its proper use. So I do not understand your travail with it.
I did not see Sarah Palin's name in the goddess link.
Please seek counsel of your pastor, reveal to him your delusions and obsession with Sarah Palin. I fear for your mental well being.
May God bless and keep you.

Progress is being made; you have admitted you are obsessed with Sarah Palin.
The road to recovery begins with admitting the problem.
Since I have no earthly obsessions, I could not hope to begin to understand yours.
Now, you know you do not raise children, you raise goats, you rear children.
"Sarah Palin is the unethical, incompetent, corrupt retarded governor of the state of Alaska."
Are you making a judgement here, remember "Judge not lest you be judged". Is there anyone in Alaska who disagrees with your judgement of Sarah Palin?
