Lawmakers reject Ross as AG in historic vote

The Legislature voted 35-23 today to reject the confirmation of Wayne Anthony Ross, Gov. Palin's pick for attorney general. It is believed to be the first time that a state agency head has failed to be confirmed.

Palin nominee for vacant Senate seat withdraws name

Joe Nelson, one of three people, some say it is an illegal attempt to have her way. These individuals were chosen by Gov. Palin to fill the empty Juneau Senate seat. That isn't her position to do so. Mr Nelson has withdrawn his name from consideration. The other two that Palin nominated were both rejected previously.

    "That isn't her position to do so". Well then;
    Article 2
    § 4. Vacancies
    A vacancy in the legislature shall be filled for the unexpired term as provided by law. If no provision is made, the governor shall fill the vacancy by appointment.

    I frankly could care less about the Juneau seat vacancy now that Ross
    has failed to be confirmed. The House and Senate votes prove that
    there is some Statesmanship and Leadership left in the
    legislature. It certainly felt good to this Alaskan to see her
    kicked to the curb on this appointment. TGIF –

    I agree with you Xango. However, there is a blinded ignorance with many legislators …..
    Wayne Anthony Ross shocked many lawmakers, and everyone else when he blurted of this asinine and revealing statement:

    “It seems to me the most important thing that can be done by the Senate is not argue with legal or illegal but to appoint somebody to represent Juneau,” he said.

    What is so hard with the concept that the AG doesn't have the place to speak about REPRESENTATION for constituents, as many are saying. He should ONLY be concerned with whether something is legal or illegal. Get reid of the main problem which is Sarah Palin's trickle down incompetence and corruption and let the people vote for the AG

    'Tis a sad week for Palin. But then again, isn't every week a bad one for Palin? Poor thing.

    You know what is so cool about this, the legislature will be adjorning and the AG post will not be filled. HA HA, Guess Governor Palin will have to use the recess appointment and appoint WAR. Will be temp but he sure could have fun in the interim.
